Toyota Kirloskar Motor will showcase its alternate fuel technologies at the upcoming Auto Expo 2016, that will also include Corolla Altis Hybrid. As in the odd-even scheme, it was given that hybrid and electric vehicles were exempted, which in turn spiked demand for its Camry hybrid sedan. The brand will launch two new vehicles, including the all-new Innova. Toyota will have a separate zone to exhibit a range of hybrid vehicles at the Auto Expo 2016.
Speaking on this, Mr N Raja, Senior Vice President, Director Sales and Marketing Toyota Kirloskar Motor told PTI that, "The odd-even scheme had allowed hybrid vehicles on all days. We are seeing a good increase in demand for our Camry hybrid in Delhi. Earlier, we use to sell around 45-50 units but in the first month of this year, it is around 80 units,". Adding to this, he also said, "So this time around at the Auto Expo, we will have three separate zones, one for new models, other for existing vehicles and another one for hybrid vehicles. The hybrid technology is a key focus for us."
The company last year sold over 1,000 Camry hybrid sedans in India, and now the brand is planning to get the Corolla Altis hybrid to Indian shore. Toyota has not pronounced all the details of the car, but China-spec Altis is powered with a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine connected to an electric motor, developing 99 hp.
As the China is the only market to feature a hybrid Corolla sedan, it is still It’s unclear if the India-bound model will have the same powerpackage.
