App- based Cab Aggregator, Ola has announced that the Ola Share service has been expanded to three new cities – Jaipur, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. The service is just similar to the ‘Uber Pool’ and just to add to add this to your know, with this expansion, the Ola has also cut down the fares of the Share service up to 45 percent.
Before this expansion, the Ola Share service was available in the cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune. This cut down in the fares by 45 percent have resulted in effective rates to go as low as Rs 3 per km in all these cities.
Commenting on this, Raghuvesh Sarup, Ola CMO and Head of Categories, said in a statement, “Shared mobility is one of the key focus areas for Ola as it enables far reaching benefits like reduced pollution and congestion-free roads. We are constantly working to upgrade this experience for users as well as the driver-partners.”
Further adding to this, he also said that the Ola Share helps in becoming the most pocket and eco-friendly ride. The service is in immense demand and with the improved matching rate, the company has been able to cut down the fares to as low as Rs. 3 per km.
This Ola Share service allows customers to book a cab ride, while sharing it with other commuters looking for a cab to travel for the same route, that make it pocket friendly by splitting the travel cost. Moreover, the customer can even choose as with whom they want to share the ride, by creating a group that is based on different categories such as location, gender, workplace, etc. Then the app searches for the match within the same group members for the ride.
The company also claims that with this economical way of transport, the Ola Share has also helped in reducing over 48 lakh kg carbon emissions and saved more than 20 lakh litres fuel in span of 8 - 10 months of operations of the Share Service. Recently, Ola also join hands with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. to encourage micro-entrepreneurship amongst drivers.
