Mercedes-Benz, the German luxurious auto giant, has another reason to rejoice as, the new S-Class (W222) has accomplished the coveted milestone of 1,00,000 unit sales in less than just a year, globally. The foremost reason behind this achievement is seen as the availability of the saloon in the three most important markets: Germany (late July), China (late September) and United States (mid-October).
“The sales figure of 100,000 S-Class models in just one year is the ultimate proof: the combination of high-class quality, exemplary efficiency and a host of innovative assistance and safety systems delights our customers and meets their highest demands”, says Ola K?llenius, Member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars responsible for Marketing & Sales. “We extended our range of luxury cars at the end of September by including two fascinating and promising models in the guise of the new S-Class coupe and the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID.”
It is for the first time in the history of model that sales figures have breached the 1 Lakh milestone only in the first year, itself. The S-Class, for the time being, is offered in as many as 3 body types - Standard, Long Wheelbase and the Coupe. In addition, the three-pointed star company also wheeled out a plug-in hybrid variant of the saloon, recently in September. Apart from the S 400 HYBRID and the S 300 BlueTEC HYBRID, the S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID is hence the third hybrid model in the new S-Class portfolio.
