Ever since the first news of the Mobilio MPV’s development started to trickle into the auto industry, we knew this is one product that is bound to create a lot of noise in the Indian auto market. Within a week of the its launch, Honda Cars India have reported that the Mobilio MPV has gathered over 5,800 bookings, since the time the pre-launch registrations were opened.
It is also reported that with the anticipated high demand for the Mobilio MPV, the company has already ramped up the production at its Greater Noida facility to make sure it meets up with the market demand. Honda has set a target to deliver the already booked Mobilio MPVs to their respective customers by the end of next month. The new bookings however, will have to look at a waiting period ranging between two months and five months.
Honda currently, sells its Mobilio MPV in Japan and in Indonesia. The company has sold nearly 46,000 units of the Mobilio in Indonesia where there is a huge demand for MPVs, compared to the Indian market. The Japanese carmaker hopes to see a surge in demand for its MPV in India as well. Commenting on the registrations for the Mobilio MPV, Honda’s managing officer, Yoshiyuki Matsumoto remarked, “The Mobilio has already enjoyed a successful run in Indonesia. I am confident that the Mobilio will repeat this success in the Indian market as well.”
As a refresher, Honda Cars India rolled out the all-new Mobilio MPV into the Indian market earlier this week with prices ranging between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 10.86 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi.) The seven seater MPV will be offered in a total four variants: E, S, V and the range-topping, RS.
The Japanese carmaker is betting high on its stylish new seven-seater MPV to replicate the kind of success the Honda Amaze and the all-new City have been able to rake in. Going with the brilliant start of over 5,800 bookings, we reckon the Mobilio has hit the nail right and hard in the Indian MPV segment.
