Over 6000 New Scorpios Sold in Just 5 Days

Snapshot: Mahindra sold 6000+ units of all-new Scorpio in a period of just 5 days, ranging from September 26 to September 30 after the much anticipated launch took place on September 25, i.e. on the day of first Navaratra in Mumbai.

Mahindra & Mahindra is basking high in the glory of newly launched second generation Scorpio as it has rescued it once more by reviving its fortunes in the sales department, like it always has been doing for the past decade or so. Believe it or not, but the company sold 6000+ units of all-new Scorpio in a period of just 5 days, ranging from September 26 to September 30 after the much anticipated launch took place on September 25, i.e. on the day of first Navaratra in Mumbai.

New Mahindra Scorpio has entered the list of top 5 selling utility vehicles by grabbing the second spot. However, at the top too, there is a Mahindra, albeit younger sibling Bolero with 8541 units. The Bolero has proved its consistency with the aforementioned sales figures yet again as in the August sales as well, it was the top-selling UV in the nation with 6826 units being sold. The Scorpio snatched the number two spot in September sales from the Honda's magnum-opus Mobilio, which further slipped down to fifth spot in the list as only 5392 units of the MPV were sold in September. There are several factors contributing to this super success of new Scorpio SUV like aggressive marketing, predecessor's legacy and up-market interior with exceptional features.

Mahindra introduced the new Scoprio with an all-new platform including New Generation Transmission, Cushion Suspension and Anti-Roll Technology for an improved ride and handling. Also, the variant nomenclature was modified and the newly introduced 6 variants were named - S2, S4, S6, S6+, S8, and S10. The exterior styling was contemporary and belligerent with the inclusion of Dual Projector Headlamps, stylish LED eyebrows, a new imposing chrome-accented front grille, tough new road armour bumpers, elegant LED tail lamps, and new 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the SUV had new luxurious blue-grey interiors and a dual shaded dashboard, well designed attractive centre console loaded with features, a futuristic instrument cluster, a new sporty steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, all new chrome-finished AC vents etc. to mention a few.

Mechanically, all the variants of Scoprio SUV were powered by a 2.2L, 4-cylinder, turbocharged mHawk engine, except for the entry-level S2 variant which in-houses the m2DICR 2.5-litre engine. Both the engines were coupled with a a new 5 speed manual transmission gearbox with improved gear shift quality for a fatigue free drive. The S4 and S10 variants also come with an optional all-wheel-drive system which is offered on made-to-order basis. Mahindra launched it in a price domain of Rs. 7.98-11.46 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Mumbai).
