We are so excited to report that Piaggio has commenced the production of the new Aprillia SR150 scooter in India at company’s manufacturing facility in Baramati, Maharashtra. As the company announced earlier that it will be available by June-July this earlier and today’s news solidifies the earlier announcements. When launched we expect it to be priced near Rs 1 Lakh and it will be India’s first sport scooter that according to Aprilia will deliver a sports-bike feel being a scooter. It will share the same power-mill as seen on the Vespa 150cc models in India, which is a 150cc single-cylinder unit that churns out 11.4bhp of max power and 11.5Nm of peak torque. It comes equipped with 220mm disc at the front and a 140mm drum unit at the rear.

It has been designed very aggressively and looks stunning from every possible viewing angle. It also features 14-inch alloy wheels that further enhance the aggressive character of the bike. Currently there isn’t much in the Indian market that can compete with the SR 150 as it will stand in a class of its own. We are desperately waiting for the next official announcements on the same, do share with us your views in the comment section and stay tuned as we bring you more updates from the motoring world.
