Piaggio has sealed the deal with Foton Motor Group to develop new range of light commercial vehicles that will include mini pickup and mini vans. These light commercial vehicles will target the world market including India where demands for such vehicles have been increasing for last couple of years. These vehicles will come with payload capacity of up to 1.5 tons and they will start launching from 2020 across the country.
A major player in the two-wheeler segment, the Piaggio has been also selling the auto rikshaws providing a transportation medium to the wide number of peoples in urban, semi urban and rural areas of India. Now, with the new range of light commercial vehicles, Piaggio is aiming to lure the small business owners across the country.
The auto manufacturer claims, these new light commercial vehicles will come providing the maximum customer satisfaction. Interestingly, there are huge demands for light commercial vehicles including the mini pickup trucks and mini vans across the country, specially in the rural and semi-urban areas. Tata Motors has been able to grab a large stake in the segment and now Piaggio too is eyeing to make its mark in the category.
Piaggio also says that its new upcoming light commercial vehicle range will focus on intra-city transportation and they will be powered by latest generation of environment friendly engines. Also, there will be state-of-the-art technological features onboard these vehicles.
