Intending to create a trendsetter “Crossmax Design” category and leverage new-age technology, Piaggio has unveiled the futuristic premium scooter, the Aprilia SXR 160 at the Auto Expo today. Manufactured at Piaggio’s Baramati factory, one can expect the scooter to hit the Indian streets by the third quarter of 2020.
Besides unveiling this premium scooter, Piaggio has showcased the European version of the Vespa Elettrica, thereby inspiring the Indian customers to adapt to electric mobility solutions. The best aspect is that Piaggio encourages the Make in India concept by planning to manufacture the scooter in India.

The Aprilia SXR 160 has a futuristic design that embodies Aprilia’s “Designed for Racers, Built for Riders” philosophy. Aprilia SXR 160 delivers an exquisite blend of Crossmax styling, sporty appeal, fantastic ergonomics, the fun-filled riding experience, and the highest degree of comfort. The Aprilia SXR 160, designed in Italy, comes with an aerodynamic design and sets a new benchmark in the Indian premium two-wheeler segment.

The Aprilia SXR 160 will be available in three variants, the 160cc BS6, 125cc BS6, and the 3V Tech FI engine technology. The scooter will come with an exciting array of features including,
LED Twin Headlight and Taillamp technology with eyeline position DRLs
Excellent storage area fully lit up to provide greater accessibility
Split glove box at the front with a USB charging point
Raised convenient steering handlebar along with an integrated dark fly screen
Massive multifunction All Digital Cluster that includes a mileage indicator
ABS and Disk brakes
12-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels with wide tyres for excellent driveability
Attractive chrome garnish exhaust and dark chrome embellishments
The SXR 160 will come in four vibrant colours, Black, White, Red, and Blue. Apart from the regular features, riders have an option to choose from an extensive array of accessories like mobile docking system, connectivity, apparel, and Aprilia helmets. While the launch is expected to happen by the end of the third quarter of 2020, the bookings will begin by August 2020.
Piaggio is committed to provide sustainable solutions and ensure a clean and green environment. Electric vehicles seem to be the ideal solution for such issues. The company has showcased the Vespa Elettrica that demonstrates Piaggio’s technological solution for providing electric mobility. 
India is gearing up to the EV revolution. Piaggio believes that India will have an active market within the next three to five years. The company plans to provide product technological innovations and cost rationalisation through its Electric mobility solutions. 
Mr Diego Graffi, MD & CEO of Piaggio India, states that India will always present a strategic market for the company. He also appreciated the change in the outlook of the Indian consumers over the past few years. As people in India get ready to accept change, the Aprilia SXR 160 will be setting a new benchmark. He also underlined Piaggio’s commitment towards providing electric mobility solutions for India. 
Besides unveiling the Aprilia SXR 160 and showcasing the Vespa Elettrica, Piaggio had the following vehicles on display.
  • Limited Edition Vespa Racing Series
  • Vespa 2020 Facelifts including the Vespa RED, Vespa SXL and VXL Facelifts
  • Aprilia SR 160 and Aprilia Storm 125 with disc brakes
All these vehicles can expect a launch sometime in the second quarter of 2020. Piaggio took this opportunity to display some of the global products like the Moto Guzzi V85 TT and the RSV4 1100 Factory.
