The next generation Range Rover Evoque is expected to be offered in a plug-in hybrid variant. It is the upcoming compact SUV from the Land Rover line-up of production and is expected to hit the market in 2019.
The automaker has earlier introduced the technology in 2015 in the Range Rover Sport Concept_e PHEV, where an electric motor featured between the engine and transmission.
Land Rover is already set to introduce plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models. Now the news of Evoque also getting the electric version, clearly indicates that the company’s preference is to introduce hybrid technology in its car.
The auto-giant is now planning to redesign the next generation Evoque in order to give it a fresh look. It will feature a modified version of the outgoing model’s design concept, based on the LR-MS design philosophy. The updated version will be slightly on the lighter side but will be bigger than the previous version.
The Evoque electric version is expected to sport a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 48V electric motor with a lithium-ion battery as a part of the plug-in. It will have enough charge for a decent electric range.
The CEO of the company has already informed that the company is ready to take the electrification program to the next level and from 2020 onwards, the Jaguar Land Rover model line-up will get hybrid variants of all its products.
