The iconic 'Indian' bikes are finally here in India!
During the period of early 1900s, Indian was one of the largest manufacturers of luxurious motorcycles but somehow, the situations changed and the company went bankrupt in the year 1953. Then in 2011, the world acclaimed ATV manufacturer, Polaris Industries bought the Indian Motorcycles and revived the brand achingly. Polaris has worked extensively on the classic brand and re-launched their traditional vintage motorcycles in a new avatar last year in the International market.
Indian Motorcycles has brought its Chief range of motorcycles in India. The models – Indian Chief Classic, Indian Chieftain and Indian Chief Vintage will reach to Indian shores via CBU route.
“This launch holds great importance for us. We launched the Marquee bikes in th US early last year and were appreciated immensely for reviving history. The chief line enthralled the bikers and created an aura for itself. With few days of the launch reviving the legend with a new heart but its same soul, Polaris India has ended the long wait for India motorcycles enthusiasts with this launch. We are now giving enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of history in a modern package,” said Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director, Polaris India Pvt Ltd.
The Indian Chief range is powered by the company’s well-known Thunder Stroke 111 engine. The newly-developed 1181cc V-twin engine produces 139 Nm of peak torque at 2600 rpm.
