Porsche India has launched the new 911 coupe at a starting price of Rs 1.82 Crores (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Revealed on track at the Buddh International Circuit, the company has also introduced a cabriolet variant at a sticker price of Rs 1.99 Crores (Ex. Showroom, India). The eighth-generation Porsche 911 comes with substantial cosmetic updates and several new features, while being more powerful than before. The new Porsche 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera S Cabriolet are now available for bookings across India, while they rival the likes of Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R.

Speaking of the exterior appearance, the new 911 retains the iconic silhouette while getting broader wheel arches which house 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels. The doors boast of the electrical pop-out handles. The rear end has a variable-position rear spoiler and the seamless, elegant light strip. The buyers also have the option of LED matrix headlights with PDLS Plus. The cabin features the 10.9-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in the centre console. The seats have been restyled by positioning them five millimetres lower with a minimally thinner seat cushion.

The cabriolet model comes with a closed fabric panel bow roof. The new and lighter hydraulic roof drive allows the convertible top to be opened and closed in around 12 seconds at speeds up to 50 kmph. In a world first, Porsche has developed the Wet mode, included as standard. This function detects water on the road, preconditions the control systems accordingly and warns the driver, who can then set up the vehicle for enhanced safety, by simply pushing a button or using the mode switch on the steering wheel (Sport Chrono Package).

Mechanically, both the coupe and cabriolet models of the 911 are powered by the 3.0L V6 turbocharged engine which develops top power of 450bhp at 6500rpm. It is nearly 30bhp more than the previous-gen model. Both the model deliver peak torque performance of 530Nm between 2300-5000rpm while linked to a a newly developed eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission. Porsche 911 S and Porsche 911 S Cabriolet do a 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.7 seconds and 3.9 seconds with top speeds of 308kmph and 306kmph, respectively.
