The German luxury carmaker Porsche has now brought in the second generation of its flagship four-seater sports car Panamera to India. Launched in a total five models- Panamera, Panamera 4, Panamera GTS, Panemera Turbo and Panamera Diesel, the vehicle costs between Rs 1.19 crore and 1.23 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Anil Reddi, Director of Porsche India, says: "The Panamera is Porsche’s unique offering in the Gran Turismo segment - it has four doors and four seats but it’s a sports car through and through. Luxury, comfort and driving performance all come together in a distinctive package in the new Panamera. With its introduction in India, our customers can look forward to a thrilling alternative in this segment."
The Panamera Turbo churns out a whooping 520bhp, a maximum speed of 305kmph and 9.8km/l of fuel efficiency, while the Panamera diesel delivering a top-speed of 244kmph and maximum power output of 250bhp, returns an impressive 15.9kmpl of mileage. Other two petrol engines powering the Porsche are a 3.6-litre V6 petrol and naturally aspirated 4.8-litre V8, capable of developing 310bhp and 440bhp respectively.
The 2014 Panamera gets the redeveloped Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) with virtual intermediate gears, which further enhances fuel economy and driving comfort of the vehicle. Larger chassis mount at the front suspension now offers more comfort and better solidity, while advance steering box mounts provide a better response. New tyres with lighter 18-inch wheels and tuned Prosche Stability Management (PSM) further enhance the car's comfort and sportiness.
The standard features that the 2014 Panamera has received across the range are electric sun roof, BOSE sound system, Porsche Communication Management Plus Navigation, Park Assist with reverse camera and Air Suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). Though entry level V6 doesn't have Air Suspension with PASM. In terms of design, the 2014 Panamera gets a wider rear windscreen, a wider spoiler and optional LED headlights.
