Porsche's baby SUV, the Macan, is set to get yet another motor choice, come November 15. The "R4" variation is ready to be launched and the greatest change is in the engine.
The Macan R4 will get a new smaller 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, that can churn out 252PS of maximum power and 370 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is likely to be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, for brilliant performance. The SUV can go from 0kmph to 100kmph in under just 6.7 seconds. The SUV can achieve a maximum speed of 229kmph.
The company also offers the Macan with a bigger 3.0-litre diesel as well as a 3.6-litre turbo petrol engine. The Macan R4 will be positioned as an 'entry-level' variant, of the Macan SUV and it is expected to be priced around the Rs 75 lakhs. The baby SUV will hit Indian shores as a CBU(completely built unit).
The SUV sits underneath the Cayenne in Porsche's line-up and will compete with the Jaguar F-Pace, which was launched recently. The British manufacturer’s first SUV has been launched with a choice of two diesel engine options – one is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can churn out 177 bhp of maximum power and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, that can churn out 296bhp of maximum power – right now, the Jaguar costs between Rs 68 lakhs to Rs 1.12 crore.
