The Bavarian auto major, Porsche, is expected to commencing deliveries of its most affordable version of its Macan SUV, the Macan R, by the end of the second week of November 2016. Porsche dealerships are now taking bookings for the SUV with a booking amount of Rs 10 lakh.
Currently Porsche India is offering the Macan SUV in three variants. Macan S diesel, is powered by 3.0-liter diesel mill, that can make a maximum power of 245PS, a 3.6-litre Macan Turbo petrol version is also available, which can generate peak power of 400PS. There’s also an option of Macan Turbo with a special performance package which comes with the same 3.6-petrol engine but has been tuned differently to deliver a much higher 440PS of power. All the three Macan variants are priced above of Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
However, the Macan R variant is expected to be priced around Rs 76lakhs, and it will be equipped with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol mill, that can produce 252PS of maximum power and 370Nm of maximum torque. The power will be sent to all four wheels through a brilliant seven-speed dual-clutch auto transmission box. According to the manufacturer the Macan R will can 100kmph from 0kmph in 6.7 seconds and it can achieve a top speed of 229kmph.
With the Macan R the German brand is trying to steal all the limelight from the British brand Jaguar’s F-Pace model. The Jaguar F-Pace currently produces 240bhp of raw power which will face direct competition from the Macan. The All-new Porsche Macan R4 will be Porsche’s entry level product that will compete in the luxury SUV segment in India.
