Tata Motors, the home-grown automajor has now announced to finally launch Nano with a power steering on January 15, 2014. Christened as 'Nano Twist' the new model will have a power steering unit developed by ZF instead of a manual one. This model will cost around Rs 15,000 higher than the existing top-end variant Nano LX, taking its price around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Most Tata Nano owners find the car to be a little heavier to steer on the congested roads and streets, so, a power steering is definitely an appreciable move from the Indian carmaker. This will help this commuter get better in city drivability.
Tata Nano was an instant success at the time of launch due to its affordable pricing and its branding as 'people's car', but the same thing went against the brand image as well in the long run. And Tata Group's former chairman, Mr. Ratan Tata too recently agreed upon the same.
The company that sells around 1600 units of the Nano per month, has been trying everything to revive its sales in the market. Recently, the company rolled out the emax CNG version of the car that is capable of returning the best-in-industry mileage of 36km/kg. The power-steering version of the car seems yet another step in the same direction.
