Maruti Suzuki's latest initiative regarding driving safely has finally concluded and the eventual winner of the contest is Pranay Agarwal from Hyderabad. Agarwal was awarded the title of Maruti Suzuki-Autocar Young Driver of the Year 2014. He emerged triumphant by beating 30 opponents as the tests took place at the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR). Pranay received a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 as a prize of safest driver in the country.
This was the sixth edition of the Maruti Suzuki - Autocar Young Driver of the Year competition and it traces the country's best young driving talent which includes awareness about traffic regulations and consciousness of road safety. The participants also need to showcase their on-road driving skills. Abhishek Mishra hailing from Gurgaon and Karanveer Singh belonging to Jalandhar were declared as first and second runner up, respectively. Even, Smruti Ranjan Das, last year's winner was also present on the occasion and he had an interaction with the final participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Mahesh Rajoria, General Manager, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd said, “Being India’s most trusted car maker, we also believe in creating trustworthy drivers in the nation. Therefore, Maruti Suzuki Young Driver makes an apt platform to send across the message of safe driving.”

Young Driver is our attempt at driving deep the message and method of conscious driving with the aim to make Indian roads safer for all. India accounts for about 10 percent of the road accident fatalities across the globe. We hope our efforts make a difference.”
