Bookings for the all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift has been started unofficially, as some of the dealers are accepting pre-booking for the car. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift is slated to be one of the biggest launch from the Indo-Japanese manufacturer this year. It is expected to be unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo following the launch in February 2018.
The new Swift has already been spotted undisguised at a promotional shoot, which reveals a lot about the upcoming hatchback. It has got several updates over the previous-gen model with improvements in the styling bits and technical features.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift retains the distinct shape of its outgoing model with some changes in the styling cues to look more appealing. It flaunts LED headlights with DRLs, chrome slated grille and sculpted bonnet. The roofline of the car is prominently designed and the C-pillars have gone thicker. It continues to sport alloy wheels.
Inside the car, an all-black theme is most likely to be retained. The dashboard design is most likely to be shared with that of the international-spec model. It receives a new steering wheel and a two-pod instrument cluster. The dashboard is most likely to get a touchscreen infotainment system with the compatibility of Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
The new generation Suzuki Swift has been launched in Japan with 1.0-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engines. But, the Indian-spec car is most likely to retain the engine mechanism comprising both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol version is powered by the same 1.2-litre unit that generates a maximum power output of 84 bhp, while the 1.3-litre diesel engine produces a maximum power output of 75 bhp. Both the engines come paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. However, the new generation model is expected to get an automatic transmission option as well.
The Indian-spec 2018 Swift is most likely to carry a premium price over the existing model and is expected to be priced between Rs 4.58 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and Rs 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched, it will be up against the key rivals like Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo.
