The go faster version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS was earlier supposed to hit the market during the festive season of 2016. However, the limitations of the manufacturer in the production department has managed to postpone the launch date to early 2017. The latest report suggests that the interior styling of the Baleno RS will get updated with premium features compared to the regular version.
The interiors of the Baleno RS will be featuring leather upholstery for its seats. Apart from this, the latest model of Baleno will also get reverse parking camera, rain sensor wipers, automatic climate control and a 7-inch touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system on the premium looking dashboard. It will also be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This sportier version of this premium hatchback car will be equipped with aluminium pedals and special floor mats.
This latest Baleno RS will sport disc brakes on all of its four wheels, which has not been elusive yet among affordable hatchbacks apart from the Fiat Abarth Punto. The disc brakes will further be assisted by Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and will also hold dual airbags.
At its heart, this version of the Baleno will feature the first turbo-petrol model among all Maruti Suzuki cars and is expected to churn out 110bhp of power and a maximum torque of 170Nm. It will either be fitted with a 5-speed manual transmission gearbox or an even better 6-speed automatic transmission gearbox.
However, Maruti Suzuki will differentiate the Baleno RS from the regular Baleno with a slight facelift. It will be getting a sportier front and rear bumper. Moreover, the rear bumper will feature a dual tone scheme and faux diffusers. It will also sport bi-xenon headlamps with LED DRLs, automatic adjustable outer ORVM and a new diamond cut dark shaded alloy wheels.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS will be up against the Fiat Abarth Punto and the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI. Post its launch, it will be available via the Maruti Suzuki Nexa premium dealership range.
