Auto Shows are happening all across the globe now, with every major city in the world hosting one. But one such city which boasts of hosting one of the biggest and oldest (1909 was the year they started hosting it) auto show is Los Angeles. The Los Angeles auto show is one of the most renowned automobile fairs in the world and the 2014 edition will be opened for the public on the coming 21st November.
Here’s a list of some of the manufacturers (who have their existence in India too), and the vehicles (the one marking their world debut only) which will be showcased at the show. You can also find attached the links of the individual models, we have covered!
Audi, the leading luxury car maker from Germany, will be showcasing four interesting models.
Audi R8 Competition: Audi R8 has been already a fast going car with some mean looking design, but Audi thought that it is not enough, and hence gave a track-spec version of the Audi R8, called the R8 Competition. If the claims of Audi are any true, it will be the "fastest R8 ever offered”. The claimed top-speed of this car is 320kmph and an acceleration of 0-100kph in 3.2 seconds. To achieve the figures, Audi worked on the aerodynamics and lightweight materials over the standard R8, for improved performance.
Audi A9 concept: Many teaser and trailers have been revealed over a couple of weeks for this top of the range Audi. Not much is known about the car, except the design philosophy, that Audi is dubbing the future of Audi.
Audi TT/TTS: The new Audi TT/TTS will get a new design characteristic and an updated Quattro system to hold the ground. The car will be more driver and performamce focused. Both Coupe and Roadster versions will be available for the Audi TT while TTS will only get the coupe version.
BMW, the another of the big three brands will be unveiling the performance version of its X5 and X6 SUVs.
BMW X5 M: It is the second generation model of the popular SUV and will get power from a twin-turbocharged 4.4 litre V8 engine, producing a maximum power of 564 bhp and a maximum torque of 76.5kgm. The power will be delivered via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The car will host some design changes, which is slated to make the car more aggressive.
BMW X6 M: The crossover SUV will have nothing different from the X5 SUV, including the engine and the design changes.
Ford, the American Autogiant will have an advantage of home turf. Still, they will be unveiling only two global models at the Los Angeles auto show.
Ford Explorer: We recently reported how the SUV sold over 7 million units alone in the U.S and now they will be showing an updated version of the same. The SUV will get some design changes and better off-roading capabilities.
Ford Mustang GT 350: The big launch for the Ford will be the iconic GT350 Mustang, which will get an updated 400+bhp power from the 5.0 litre V8 engine.
The legendary British brand will be unveiling only one product at the LA show. Although, this very product will create a lot of buzz in the market.
Jaguar F-Type AWD: The famous Jaguar F-Type is expected to get an All-wheel-drive treatment for its famous V6 as well as V8 variants. The AWD variants of the other models of Jaguar have been famous globally, and Jaguar is expecting the same success from this performance car.
Mercedes has not opened all its cards as to what they will be unveiling at the LA motor show. All they have confirmed is a single model.
Maybach S600: This car has been in the hype for quite a long time now. The super-luxury brand is about to get revived by the Mercedes, and they are teasing it from quite a some time now. Priced over the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Maybach will be the luxury form of S-Class having a 6.0 litre V12 engine from the AMG variant.
Porsche, the German supercar manufacturer will be offering four models at the LA show for global unveiling.
Porsche 911 Carrera GTS: The Carrera GTS will be the range-topping Carrera and will use the same engine as the CarreraS. Although, this 3.8 litre unit will deliver more than 424bhp power, which it generates in the CarreraS. Porsche is claiming a top speed of 306kmph and an acceleration of 0-100kph in 4 seconds.
Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive Exclusive: This luxurious long wheelbase model will be getting only 100 units, with a new and unique paintjob, alloys, infotainment system and new leather upholstery.
Porsche Cayenne & Cayenne GTS: This will be the updated model of the popular Porsche's Cayenne. Power to the Cayenne comes from a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 434bhp.
Toyota is all set to reveal the future of automobiles, and they mean it literally.
Toyota Mirai: According to a recent video by Toyota, they are set to completely reveal all the details of its hydrogen fuel cell powered car, the Toyota Mirai. According to the head of Toyota, Mirai means future in Japanese and it is destined to change the future of transportation.
Volvo the brand known for safety, will be unveiling one car only.
Volvo V60 Cross Country: The car will get increased ground clearance and updated off-roading capabilities.
