It seems Mahindra is ready with its new range of product on-slot to be introduced in Indian market. This production-ready compact crossover by Mahindra (Code name- S101) has been spotted doing test round. Mahindra S101 will be a direct rival to the Ford EcoSport with its sub 4-meter dimensions.
The car was spotted with wraparound, smoked effect paint job, curved windshield with rear wiper and a hatch with integrated rear spoiler and tail lamps. The bumper has reflectors/ rear fog lamps at both the ends, garnished with chrome. The number plate housing integrated in the rear bumper. It appears that the car has three adjustable headrests at the rear section.
This compact SUV features a unique 3+3 layout, with a fold-able middle section at the front bench seat that accommodate one occupant. The dashboard looks appealing with a piano black trim, faux silver inserts around the steering wheel and the center console. The center console has a distinctive vertical aligned HVAC control and a multimedia system with a screen. The gear lever is mounted on dashboard to provide better legroom to the front occupants.
The S101 is expected to be offered in two variants 1.2-litre petrol, which is developed by its Korean subsidiary, SsangYong and the Quanto-derived 1.5-litre diesel engines. Both the engines will be connected to a 5-speed manual transmission. An automated manual transmission could be offered in the diesel version.There are rumors that Mahindra could use the name “XUV100” for this for this compact SUV. It is expected to launch in January 2016.
