Rahil Noorani the official Indian race car driver won the Race 1 of Polo R Cup 2013. He set the fastest lap on Saturday’s run and showed his fit appearance by winning the whole Race 1. Jefferey Kruger, the South African driver was tied up with him in the starting laps of the race, he finished 2nd. Another Indian driver Prashanth Tharani, who started in the 4th position, climbed the places very early in the race and retained his position till the end of the race. There were only 4 laps left to go when, rookie Diviraj Thakran’s car came in contact with side tire wall and rolled over. Because of this he could not continue with the race and was forced to throw in the towel, during which the race was red flagged.
The Polo Cup race began in a very unorthodox way. The recruit Diviraj, had a very bad day, because he couldn’t continue. Though he was able to walk it off, his car was not all that lucky. Rahil Noorani somehow managed to clinch the fastest driver label on Saturday, by winning his primary contest of the whole season. This was his third season of the Polo Cup, and has already become a fan favorite of this term.
“ With a pole position yesterday and a victory today, it was the perfect start for the season. This win has motivated me further and I am looking forward to race 2. It is going to be a tough one as I will have to start in the 8th position on the track and it will be an interesting race as the other competitors are in good form too”. As quoted by Rahil Noorani himself.
The Polo Cup will host a total of 5 race weekends. This was the first challenge of the season and will continue on till December in various circuits of different cities.
