Rajan Wadhera Appointed as New ARAI President

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has announced the appointment of Rajan Wadhera, Presdient & Chief Executive - Truck & Powertrain, & Head - Mahindra Research Valley, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. as its new President. In addition, it also announced the appointment of Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. as its new Vice-Prsident. Both the appointments came through at the Governing Council meeting of ARAI held on September 3, 2015 in New Delhi.

Rajan Wadhera took charge as President - ARAI, from Mr. Vinod Dasari - Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Ltd, the erstwhile President of ARAI from 2013 to 2015. Mr. Wadhera has been a part of ARAI Governing Council in the capacity of Vice President - ARAI for the past two years and has significantly contributed in developing strategic R&D Roadmap for ARAI. Also, in his role as Chairman, Finance and Internal Audit committee of ARAI, he has brought strong financial practices and procedures, on board. In his new role as President - ARAI, his focus would be to make contributions to ARAI's R&D Capabilities and take ARAI brand to global level. On the other hand, Mr. Vikram Kirloskar, Vice-Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. took charge as Vice Prsident of ARAI from Mr. Wadhera. Just so you know, ARAI is an autonomous body engaged in R&D activities related to automotive and approved as testing agency by Department of Heavy Industry, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India.

Speaking on the appointments and sharing her vision for the future growth and expansion of ARAI, Mrs. Rashmi Urdhwareshe, Director - ARAI said, "I am confident that ARAI will be immensely benefitted with the vision and guidance of industry leaders such as Rajan Wadhera and Vikram Kirloskar. With the changing times ARAI is geared up to take new challenges with respect to road safety, stringent emission norms, fuel efficiency, transport engineering and several other technologies relevant for safer, cleaner and quieter vehicles. ARAI team is well focused on development of advanced technology to meet these challenges. I am sure that ARAI will be a significant contributor in the nation's anticipated growth trajectory. Further as ARAI enters its Golden Jubilee Year in December 2015, we are all set to make it a truly spectacular and memorable year." Being established in 1966, ARAI's campus is located in Pune.
