Renault India would unveil the Captur SUV on September 21, 2017 in the country. The French automaker has already announced the Captur's launch in the Indian market during the festive season of this year, which begins next month. Renault Captur is already sold in several international markets in left-hand-drive configuration. India is all set to become the first market to get it in the right-hand-drive mode. The Captur SUV would be challenging the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Hexa, Jeep Compass and higher variants of Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-Cross.

Underpinning the company's M0 architecture similar to Duster, it would be manufactured at the Renault-Nissan production facility in Chennai with higher level of local content. Dimensionally, it is quite identical to the Duster with almost similar space in the cabin. For those asking, the upcoming Nissan Kicks crossover would also be based on the M0 platform. As for the features, the Captur SUV would boast of LED headlamps with daytime running lights (DRLs), optional dual-tone contrast roof, automatic climate control and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with media navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. The interior cabin would be finished in a dual-tone theme.

Mechanically, the Renault Captur SUV would be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The Russian version is powered by a couple of petrol engines: 1.6L and 2.0L. However, the India-spec version is expected to share the engines with the Duster. The same 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol and 1.5L 4-cylinder K9K diesel engine would be at the helm of affairs. Both the engine would be offered with manual transmission, while an automatic gearbox can be expected at a later stage. The company might have tweaked the suspension system to suit the Indian roads. The Captur is expected to be priced in a range of Rs. 12-16 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The bookings are believed to be starting from October 1, 2017 in country.
