Releasing its worldwide sales figures for passenger as well as commercial vehicle, Renault has announced overall sales growth of 3.3%. This is third consecutive year of sales growth for Renault company claims that 2,800,242 vehicles were registered this year in the market that grew by 1.6%.
In Europe too, the company realised growth for second consecutive year and sales have increased. Renault now has more than 10% of the total market share of passenger car and light commercial vehicles in Europe with 10.2% increase in registrations to 1,613,499 vehicles. The worldwide share of the group for the same (PC and LCV) stands at 3.2%. Despite the crisis in some of the overseas markets like Russia and Latin America, the group maintains steady shares there while it recorded market share gains in others regions like Africa, Middle East and India and Eurasia regions. Sales have increased in all countries in the region, where Spain performance was most impressive (+22.3%) followed by the United Kingdom (+17.7%) and Italy (+18%).
Groupe Renault Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Thierry Koskas, said: "2015 marks another year of increased sales by Groupe Renault and we have beaten our previous sales record. Despite economic conditions that continue to vary from one region to another, our growth is constant and validates the geographic diversification strategy pursued these past years. Building on the business momentum of the past three years, a product range largely updated in 2015 and 2016 and our expansion in India and China, our growth will accelerate in 2016 and we will improve our positions in all our regions".
In the passenger car segment, Renault retained its top position in the urban vehicle market recording 969,508 vehicle sales. In the European electric vehicle market too, Renault led the sales chart with 23,086 electric vehicles sales in which the ZOE became the market leader market with 18,453 registrations over the year.
