Renault India would officially launch the 4X4 version of the Duster compact SUV on September 24th in the country. Recently, the company also released a short teaser video of this All-Wheel-Drive variant. The Duster AWD variant, apart from the four wheel drivetrain, would bear several cosmetic changes inside out. The traction control system would be a bigger addition as well.
The AWD variant would have the 'Adventure Edition' body kit and 'AWD' written on several places such as the bootlid at the back. It would boast an additional plastic Armour with integrated twin foglamps. Inside the cabin, it would have an all new steering wheel, accompanied by red fabric seats. The 4WD controller would be placed besides the traction control system. The AWD system would be comprising of three modes - 2WD, Auto and Differential Lock. Also, there would be touchscreen infotainment system in this variant, sourced from the Duster top-end trim.
Mechanically, it would be coming with the same 1.5L K9K diesel motor which produces a maximum power output of 110 PS and peak torque performance of 248Nm. It would be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which would disburse power evenly to all the four wheels of the compact SUV via this AWD system. It is expected to carry an array of safety features in form of dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, TCS etc. The Renault Duster AWD variant is expected to priced around 50,000 more than the top-end variant in its lineup. It would be challenging the likes of Mahindra Scorpio 4X4 and Tata Safari Storme 4X4 in the country. The vehicle is manufactured locally at Renault-Nissan's production unit in Chennai.
