Renault, today launched their All wheel drive version of the compact SUV, Duster. The AWD Duster will be available in two trims namely RxL, priced at Rs 11.89 lakh and RxZ, priced at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex showroom, Delhi). The new 4*4 Duster hardly gets any cosmetic updates on outside, although there are notable changes in the interiors and mechanical changes include the new AWD.
The exteriors now get blackened B pillars and the new decals on the side, along with an AWD badge on the tailgate. The interiors now boasts of a new 3 spoke steering wheel with the mounted cruise control buttons. It also gets a new instrument cluster with chrome fittings and a new information display for those vital information like mileage, consumption, range and much more. A new touchscreen entertainment system which also includes navigation and bluetooth connectivity is also added. The AWD version gets a dual tone dash of gray and black shade and seats with red and gray shade unlike the regular variants.
The heart of the car is the same 1.5 liter k9k diesel engine, producing 110PS @ 3900rpm and 248Nm @ 2250rpm mated with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Although, the change we were waiting for eagerly, is the new All wheel drive unit which gets 3 driving modes: a 2WD version to send power to front wheels only, an AWD version to send power to all four wheels and an automatic version that sends power to rear wheels when the front looses grip.

The AWD system is now complimented with the driver assist systems that include hill hold and traction control systems, allowing you to take this car anywhere on the road or off the road. The compact SUV also gets an independent suspension set-up for the improved ride quality of the car. The ground clearance of 205mm and the 30 degree offset angle, makes sure that the car doesn't touch the ground.
The Renault Duster AWD will be competing against Skoda Yeti, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV500. Although Renault has become the first company to introduce an AWD in the compact SUV segment. The features list is exhaustive and after the prices, which are revealed today, it can take the market by storm.
