Renault India has announced the launch of Duster facelift on February 4, 2016 at the Auto Expo in the country. It is the first major facelift for the compact SUV in the Indian market, ever since its launch in 2012. The upgrades would be strictly cosmetic with major focus on the exterior styling. It is also learnt that the French automaker might also introduce an Easy-R AMT gearbox for the first time as an option with the Duster facelift.
Talking about the exterior styling of Renault Duster facelift, it is quite identical to the new Duster which was launched in Brazil recently. The front fascia flaunts a single slat grille and new headlamps. It rides on the newly designed alloy wheels, while redesigned tail-lamps and new body panels sum up the styling quotient. Inside the cabin, there is a refreshed dashboard with a new single piece center console. The console panel holds the circular A/C vents and MEDIANAV touchscreen display. Just so you know, the A/C vents aren't anymore integrated in the main console. The fabric upholstery and console buttons are also expected to get an update.
Mechanically, the Duster facelift would retain the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder K9K diesel engine. It would generate power output in two tunes: 85PS and 110PS. The 85PS variants would be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while the 110PS variants would get a 6-speed manual transmission. Also, as said before, there would be an optional Easy-R AMT for the first time with the 110PS variants. The French automaker could continue the All-Wheel-Drive (4X4) model. For those asking, Renault Duster carved the niche segment of compact SUV in India in 2012 and since then, multiple vehicles like Nissan Terrano, Hyundai Creta and Maruti S-Cross have joined the parade.
