Renault India, in a bid to boost the sales of its Pulse hatchback and Scala sedan, has announced a really lucrative offer for the buyers. The company has announced to sell the diesel variants of both these cars at the price of petrol variants. The Scala RxL and Pulse RxL, after revision, are being priced at Rs 8.01 lakh and Rs 5.19 lakh, respectively (Ex. Showroom).
Renault India is struggling to sell both these vehicles as it only sold around 113 units and 129 units of Scala sedan and Pulse hatchback on a monthly basis from May-October 2014. The company is solely relying on Duster compact SUV for volumes across the nation. This discount or scheme is said to be part of the company's year-end stock clearance sale. Furthermore, the company is also offering 2 years of extended warranty and 4 years of free roadside assistance on the purchase of both these models. Even, the Duster is getting a tough run for its money by the newly arrived Mahindra Scorpio and the company has also re-shuffled the prices of certain variants of the compact SUV. Currently, Renault Duster 85PS RxL is being available at Rs. 9.29 Lakhs, while the top-end RxL AWD variant is priced at Rs. 11.29 Lakhs.
Renault, the French automaker, is keen on expanding its variant line-up in the country to capture larger market share. The Company CEO, Sumit Sawhney, at the time of Duster AWD launch, told that the company would launch two new cars in India in 2015. Out of the two new cars, one would be the Lodgy MPV which is already on sale in several international markets and also spied multiple times as a test mule in the country. The second one would be an all-new small global car that the company intends to pair up with a 0.8L diesel motor and AMT transmission to counter the likes of Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon.
