Like other top manufacturers of India, Renault too recently announced a price hike of 2.5 percent w.e.f January 2015 across its product portfolio owing to rising input costs. Renault, the French Automaker is the strategic partner of Nissan from Japan, who also announced the price hike of 2.5 percent recently along with the budget brand of Nissan, Datsun, who announced a price hike of 3 percent.
Speaking on the price rise, Rafael Treguer, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Renault India said, "So far we have absorbed the rising input costs, but a sustained challenging market environment has compelled us to increase our prices. The industry is eagerly looking forward to pro-business policies to reignite the automobile industry in India."
Recently, reports came in that Government is planning a rollback on the subsidy provided on the excise duties provided by Congress led UPA government, which was extended till March 2015. A rollback means an increase in prices by almost 10-15%. Apart from all the aforementioned sister firms, manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, BMW and others have also announced a price hike to be effective from January 2015.
Renault India has recently started achieving good sales numbers, thanks to the Duster compact SUV. None of the other vehicles are doing that good in their respective genres, be it the Scala, Pulse, Fluence. Renault India also organized 40+ free service camps in the month of November and they are planning a massive 400+ free service camp this year to reach out to close to 20,000 customers.
