Renault Kwid has taken the Indian car market with its stomp effect, that can be witnessed easily as the French automaker has commenced bookings for the Kwid 1.0L version at Renault dealership across the country. The car was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in February this year and you can book the car for a token money of Rs 10,000, while the deliveries expected to begin by early September.
It is expected that the price of the top-end model would be around Rs 50,000 higher than its 0.8-litre sibling. In terms of the design, there will be no changes, but it may receive new interior fabric upholstery. The standard model of the entry-level hatchback gets several first in class segment features such as the touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and all-digital instrument cluster, an optional driver side airbag top ranking trim. There could be a possibility that the carmaker may offer dual front airbags and ABS on the 1.0-litre variant.
Under the skin, the Renault Kwid 1.0L SCe will be power packed with a new 67bhp 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol unit paired with a a 5-speed manual transmission. Once launched it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Eon, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Wagon R, and Tata Tiago. While the company CEO and managing director, Sumit Sawhney also confirmed that an AMT version of the car to follow soon.
