With the Kwid unveiled in the Indian car market, the car has been a game changer for Renault, where Duster was losing its ground, the Kwid single-handedly brought the company back into the game. Renault Kwid 1.0-litre SCe variant and an 800 cc variant with alloy wheels were spotted doing some test rounds on the busy GST Road near the Chennai airport. This car caught our eye when on a closer we saw an additional “SCe” logo on the right side of its hatch.
Along with the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre SCe variant, we got a change to see an 800 cc variant with alloy wheels. Renault Kwid 1.0-litre SCe variant made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016 and most likely will be launched in mid-2016. Renault Kwid giving a competition to its rivals like Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano by registering more than 100,000 bookings and waiting periods extending to more than six months in some cities.
Though the specifications has not been revealed yet, but we expect the Renault Kwid 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine variant will be capable to crank out 70 bhp. The engine will be connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox, but the Kwid 1.0L SCe will also receive an Easy-R AMT. The top-ranking version is expected to come with dual-airbags and ABS. The Kwid 1.0L SCe will compete with the likes of Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon 1.0L.
While the 800 cc variant with alloy wheels was spotted during test mule, it clearly seems that the brand is working over this Kwid and suggesting that the top-end variant of the car is in the last stage of the production. The range-topping variant will get standard alloy wheels and in addition could also get dual airbags and ABS.
Well! This is what Renault’s strategy is, to offer enough options to its buyer within the competitors’ price range.
