Renault India is all set to launch the Kwid AMT in the country. The French automaker recently released a teaser image of the hatch, and it is being learnt that it would be officially launched next week in the Indian market. However, prior to the launch, the price of the AMT variant has been leaked online, which starts from Rs. 4.29 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi). Renault Kwid AMT is said to be coming in two trim levels: RxT and RxT (O). The first teaser image comes with tagline, "Get Ready to Change the Way you Drive".
The bookings for the Kwid AMT have already commenced at Renault dealerships at a token amount of Rs. 10,000. Since, the AMT gearbox would be offered on the top-end RxT and RxT (O) variants, they would get the 7-inch MediaNav touchscreen infotainment system, fabric seat upholstery with red inserts, front power windows and an optional driver’s airbag. Speaking of the hatchback's AMT setup, it wouldn't be featuring manual shifting modes, unlike the Auto Gear Shift (AGS) setup in Maruti Alto K10. The gear selector is positioned at adjacent to the window controls at the centre console. Moreover, it would also boast of a crawl function that would enable moving forward/reverse slowly without pressing the accelerator.
Renault Kwid AMT would house the 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine, which debuted in August this year. It would generate maximum power output of 67bhp at 5500rpm and peak torque performance of 91Nm at 4250rpm. Though details are being kept under wraps regarding the Kwid's Easy-R AMT unit, but it is believed to be a 5-speed unit. Just so you know, the manual variants deliver a mileage of 23.01kmpl and hence the fuel efficiency of the AMT could be nearly the same. It is further being learnt through reliable sources that Renault Kwid Easy-R AMT RxT (O) would be priced at Rs. 4.42 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The Kwid AMT would be challenging the Maruti Alto K10 AMT in the country.
