Last week, we reported you that Renault India has released the new TVC of its upcoming small car Kwid with the company's new face Ranbir Kapoor. And, now we have learnt that some of the company dealers in the country have started taking bookings for the small car at a token amount ranging between Rs. 20000-50000, with deliveries promised by September end. Just so you know, Renault Kwid would be launched in a price bracket of Rs. 3-4 Lakhs, while challenging the Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon.
Renault's new entry-level car Kwid was unveiled in May by the Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman Mr. Carlos Ghosn in India. The exterior styling of the hatch is quite distinguished as compared to the other cars in its segment due to the inclusion of several sporty elements such as body cladding, 180mm ground clearance and a Duster-esque front bumper, creased bonnet and rear fender flairs. In case you want to know, Renault Kwid is all set to become the first car in its segment to boast of a 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB and aux connectivity. Also, it is being said that boot space would be best-in-class. In addition, there would be a digital instrument cluster, power window and air-con controls at centre console.
Mechanically, Renault Kwid would be presented in petrol fuel trim only. Being powered by a 800cc petrol motor, it would have maximum power lesser than 60bhp. Though, exact power output and torque performance figures are not revealed by the company. The engine would be coupled with a manual gearbox. For those vouching for more power, the company also has plans to introduce the Kwid with a 1.0L motor with higher power output, but it would come by next year only. Also, an AMT unit is in offing as optional alongside the manual variants.
