Maruti Suzuki has always been a stalwart when it comes to small car’s sale. The Maruti Alto 800 has long been the unrivaled king of its territory despite of many competitors. However, things changed a lot when the Renault Kwid was launched last year. The Alto 800 faced a serious challenge from the Renault Kwid, and rightly so, as the Kwid is a better car overall, with better design, looks, performance and far better features.
Renault has been able to sell the Kwid like a hot cake and more than 75,000 units of this popular hatchback has already been sold. To keep the momentum going the French manufacturer has already showcased various versions of this popular hatchback, but the version with 1.0-liter petrol motor and the one with AMT gearbox garnered most interest.
The company has already launched the Kwid with a 1.0-litre engine variant some days ago, at a price of Rs 3.82 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) named as the Kwid SCe. Now, the company is all set to launch an AMT variant, which will be known as the Kwid Easy-R. The AMT variant will attract mostly urban commuters, who will use the hatchback in mainly slow moving traffic.
Renault India released the first teaser of the Kwid AMT with the tagline “Get Ready to Change the Way you Drive”, last week, suggesting they were ready for the launch. According to dealers, the delivery of AMT Kwid will start from this month itself, and one can book it by depositing a sum of Rs. 25,000.
The Easy-R AMT comes with a 5-speed gearbox, and only the 1.0-liter variant is likely to be equipped with the AMT gearbox. The manual Kwid is capable of providing brilliant mileage of 23.01 km/l, and you can expect the AMT variant too to return great mileage figures.
