- Renault Kwid Facelift to have several cosmetic updates.
- It will feature the same petrol engines in BS-IV form.
- It will be launched by the end of September 2019.
Renault India is all set to launch the Kwid Facelift in September 2019 in the country. The new hatchback is undergoing the final phase of testing and has been spotted several times with camouflage on the Indian roads. Various reports indicate that the styling of the 2019 Renault Kwid Facelift will be based on the KZE electric vehicle which was showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year.
The Kwid 2019 will flaunt split twin headlamps with LED daytime running lights surrounding the front grille. The front and bumpers will also be redesigned, while it will feature a new set of wheel caps and LED tail-lamp cluster. Though, the Indian model will have a different wheel design than the global model. In addition, the hatch will also get structural updates in order to qualify for the crash test norms, which will be effective from October 2019. The cabin comes with substantial upgrades such as new dashboard design, fully digital instrument cluster (borrowed from the Triber MPV), the inclusion of a tachometer, revised AC vents and an all-new steering wheel etc. to name a few. The Renault Triber' 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in all likelihood, will make its way to the Kwid.
Mechanically, the Renault Kwid Facelift will retain the same 0.8L and 1.0L petrol engines in BS-IV form with similar power output and torque performance. The smaller engine will deliver 54bhp and 72Nm while the bigger engine will churn out 68bhp and 91Nm. The transmission options will also be carried forward from the ongoing model in the form of a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The company will upgrade these engines to BS-VI emission norms, close to April 2020. Renault Kwid's biggest competitor and the undisputed segment leader the S-Presso, which is touted as Alto successor, will launch on September 30, 2019.
