Renault India is all set to launch the Renault Kwid Facelift in the country. However, prior to the official launch, a few images have surfaced online which claim to be the interior cabin of the upcoming hatchback. The spy-images appear to have been clicked at a dealership. Being inspired by the Chinese-spec all-electric Kwid K-ZE, it will be introduced in early 2020 with a BS 6 petrol engine.
Going by the spy images, the Renault Kwid Facelift will feature a new touchscreen infotainment system, sourced from the recently launched Triber MPV, which could be integrated with the Smartphone. The hatch will also boast of a fully digital instrument cluster, restyled air-con vents and piano black inserts for the steering wheel. In addition, there will be orange colored finish near the air vent surrounds and gear lever. The exterior highlights include daytime running lights (DRLs), turn indicator mounted on both sides of the front grille and C-shaped LED tail lamp cluster. The new hatch will headlamps positioned on either side of the number plate. The company could also offer a dual-tone color scheme.
Mechanically, the 2020 Kwid Facelift will be offered with the same 0.8L and 1.0L petrol engines as the current model with similar power outputs and torque performances. Although, they will be now BS 6 compliant powertrains with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while an AMT gearbox will also be available as optional. Renault Kwid will directly take on the Datsun Redi-GO and Maruti S-Presso, which will debut on September 30, 2019. The prices could be a few thousand higher than the ongoing model due to the inclusion of new safety features and BS 6 compliant engines.
