Renault India's latest offering, the entry-level hatchback Kwid, has garnered a jaw-dropping 50,000 bookings within a month of its launch in the country. The huge anticipation for the small hatch has accounted for a waiting period of around 3-6 months, depending upon the variant, color and city. Just so you know, Renault Kwid was launched in a price bracket of Rs. 2.56-3.53 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, New Delhi) on September 24, 2015 in the country.
Renault Kwid comes with a few first-in-segment features like the 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display with Bluetooth and USB support, digital instrument cluster and driver side airbag. The French automaker has achieved a record-breaking 98 percent of localization for the Kwid hatchback with production taking place at its Chennai manufacturing unit. Being based on the company's all-new CMF-A platform, Renault Kwid comes with a ground clearance of 180mm - again, a class-leading attribute. The Kwid hatch lock horns with Maruti Alto K10 and Hyundai Eon.
Mechanically, the Kwid is powered by Renault's all-new 799cc, 3-pot petrol motor which develops 53bhp of maximum power at 5678rpm and peak torque of 72Nm at 4386rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox for the time being, while the AMT option could be on offer by early 2017. For those concerned, Renault Kwid comes with a fuel economy of 25.17kmpl (ARAI Specified), and it makes the hatch India's most fuel efficient car.
