Renault Kwid has doing wonders for the company ever since its launch in the country. We recently told you that the small hatch has registered over 110,000 bookings, propelling the French automaker to start a third shift at the Chennai facility to cut down the rising waiting period. Now, according to the data released by industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the Kwid recorded its highest ever sales in February 2016 as 7,544 units of the hatch were sold.
The Kwid acquired the eighth spot in the list of top 10 selling passenger vehicles in February 2016. SIAM also revealed that Renault has sold 31,462 units of the small hatch, starting from September 2015 to February 2016. Besides Kwid, Hyundai's blue-eyed pot - the Creta compact SUV - also went on claim its highest ever monthly sales last month. Hyundai India sold 8,196 Creta SUVs in February 2016, despite the logistics issues faced in the North Indian state of Haryana due to Jat agitation. The South Korean automaker has sold over 55,673 units of Creta, since its launch in June 2015 in the country. Just so you know, the company recently announced that it has recorded over 1 Lakh bookings for the compact SUV.
Surprisingly, no Honda car found place in the list of top 10 selling passenger vehicle in February 2016. Though, Amaze & City have been constantly featuring in the list for the Japanese automaker, except for December 2015. Needless to say, the top four spots in the list were dominated by Maruti heavyweights - Alto, Swift, Wagon R, and Swift Dzire - despite witnessing de-growth. Apart from the Creta, Hyundai's i20 continued its golden run and held the fifth spot by selling 10202 units. Also, the Grand i10 retained its sixth spot with 8898 units being sold in February 2016. There were no entrants from the home-grown automaker Tata Motors, but Mahindra marked its entry at the 9th spot with Bolero.
