Renault India is all set to launch its next offering - Kwid hatchback - in the country. But prior to the official launch, which is expected to happen a couple of weeks later as media drives of the hatch has already started, the engine specifications and features have been revealed. As we reported earlier, several company dealers have started the bookings for the hatch, but as Renault had said during the media drive, official bookings would start from September 14, 2015. Renault Kwid would be on offer in four variants - Std, RXE, RXL, and RXT.
As for features, the Kwid's base variant has not much to offer as it has Black bumpers and steel wheels and full-size spare, Single tone dashboard, Digital instrument cluster, Grey upholstery, Gearshift indicator, and Internal boot release as standard. Even A/C isn't available on the entry-level Standard variant. Going to the mid variant RXE, it would feature Steel wheels painted in silver, Satin silver finish on dashboard, AC with heater, Lower glovebox which can be closed and opened, Passenger-side sun visor, and Engine immobilizer. In addition, an optional media pack can also be availed with the Renault Kwid RXE, which comprises of Stereo with radio, MP3, Bluetooth, USB, aux, 2 speakers and a 12V socket.
Coming to the Kwid's third variant RXL, it would have quite a few preimum features like Electric power steering, Auto on/off cabin light, Body coloured bumpers, Passenger-side wing mirror, Piano black accents on steering wheel, Satin silver finish around AC vents, Premium front seats, and dual tone Black-red upholstery. Additionally, the optional media pack available with the RXE grade is standard on RXL trim. Last but by no means the least, the flagship variant RXT would have a dual tone dashboard with features like Optional driver airbag, Piano black finish on centre console, AC knobs with chrome finish, Front power windows, 6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Navigation, Remote keyless entry with central locking, Front fog lamps, and Intermittent front wiper with wash feature as standard, besides having all the features of RXL.
Renault Kwid would be powered by the company's newly-developed 0.8L, 3-cylinder petrol motor, which would generate a maximum power of 54bhp. The engine would be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an AMT gearbox could be introduced later. Renault Kwid would return a mileage of 25.17kmpl and is all set to become India's most fuel efficient petrol car upon its launch. Weighing a mere 660 kgs, it would be offered with as many as 60 accessories for detailed personalisation and 2-year/50,000km warranty program.
