Renault is aiming to grab greater market share in the Indian UV market and in attempt to achieve that goal, the French automaker is betting big on its upcoming sub-four metre MPV that is internally codenamed as RBC. Meanwhile, test mule of the MPV has been spied in India for the first time giving us an idea about the car.

Renault launched the Lodgy MPV in India with lot of expectation, but the car couldn’t fetch desired sales result. The new MPV will be positioned below the Lodgy and price of the car will be cheaper as well. This MPV will be based on the CMF-A+ modular architecture. Thanks to being smaller than four metre, this MPV will get the excise benefit, while it will offer larger wheelbase than the Kwid.

Speaking about its design, the upcoming Renault MPV is expected to come with a strong road presence. It could get a large front grille, sharp headlamps with LED daytime running lights and a bulky bumper. Not only exterior, the car is likely to receive range of upmarket features inside the cabin. There would be ample space and a touchscreen infotainment system adding zing to the cabin. On the safety front, it could get dual airbags, ABS and rear parking sensors.

Power source for the upcoming MPV could be an upgraded version 1.0-litre SCe petrol engine that works under the hood of the Kwid. This engine will churn out more power and torque, while transmission options would include a manual gearbox and an AMT as well.
