The brand new D-segment model represents a major departure when compared to the outgoing Laguna and Latitude as it adopts an entirely new design making it an attractive offering in the crowded mid-size market where it will have to tackle the Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and the Skoda Superb. It rides on the CMF platform co-developed with Renault and is 4.85 meters long, 1.87 meters wide and is 1.46 meters tall. It benefits from a generous 2.81 meters wheelbase and features a massive trunk with a 608-liter capacity while a wagon version with even more space will join the range in the following months.

At an additional cost, the Renault TALISMAN will be offered with full LED headlights blending nicely with those standard C-shaped LED daytime running lights that as you can see are very long and extend onto the front bumper. The back of the car is truly special as those 3D-effect LED taillights are very big and remain on at all times, even during the day. The side profile shows a prominent character line and glossy black B and C pillars while the window framing uses chrome to enable a more upscale appearance.

The interior cabin should be familiar to those who have seen the new Espace and according to Renault it offers an additional 25 liters of storage space while a 4.2-inch central display is standard. Those willing to pay more will be able to upgrade to the 8.7-inch screen of the R-Link 2 infotainment system while a 13-speaker Bose sound system is also available along with electrically-adjustable heated front seats that come with a memory function.

Engine choices are quite plentiful as customers will have the possibility of ordering the TALISMAN with TCe 150 and TCe 200 gasoline turbo units as well as with a dCi 110 and a dCi 130. The top-of-range diesel is going to be a twin-turbo dCi 160 coupled to a dual-clutch six-speed gearbox. The gasoline engines work with a dual-clutch seven-speed whereas the two lesser diesels can be teamed up with either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch seven-speed.

Sales of the Renault TALISMAN are scheduled to begin this fall in Europe while details regarding a possible Indian launch are not available at this point.
