Renault India will showcase the Zoe EV at the 2020 Auto Expo, which starts from February 5 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. An Autocar India report states that the French automaker will launch the small electric car in India by 2021. Renault Zoe EV is currently undergoing testing while some modifications are being made to it to make it suitable for Indian climate conditions. The company is also working on the range of the hatch with homologation work in full process.
It is being learned that one of the primary updation is taking place at the underside of the battery, where the company is equipping the hatch with additional protection in order to minimize physical damage from big speed breakers. In addition, this extra protection also comes very handy when the hatch is overloaded. Renault is expected to locally assemble the Zoe EV at the Renault-Nissan Alliance's Chennai facility. Although, the localization would be low initially it could be increased gradually with time.
Mechanically, Renault Zoe EV is powered by a 41kWh battery which will deliver a top power output of 90bhp. Although the weight of 1500 kgs could be a concern, still it is expected to have a driving range somewhere between 300-350 kilometers, after being fully charged. Renault Zoe EV price could range between Rs 14-16 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) but it can be expected due to the decent range. Meanwhile, in other news, Renault is also expected to showcase an SUV in Concept form which will preview its sub-4-metre model which will challenge the likes of Ford EcoSport.
