Mahindra Group chairman has hinted that Indian customers could soon buy the resurrected Jawa motorcycles. Mahindra Group currently owns the right to the Jawa and BSA brands through its subsidiary Classic Legends Private Limited and as the homegrown company promised, the Jawa and BSA motorcycles will be manufactured and sold here. With this strategy, Mahindra aims to strengthen its footstep in the highly competitive and highly in demand Indian premium two-wheeler market.
Revival of Jawa Motorcycles in India is going to be a significant step for the market and Mahindra as well. Jawa motorcycles will be sold in India through a dedicated Jawa retail network across the country. Also, this brand will focus only on the premium motorcycles with engine capacity of 300 cc and above. Clearly, Mahindra wants to throw a tough challenge towards the Royal Enfield.
Mahindra currently has its own Mojo adventure tourer on offer in India. Despite being a well capable motorcycle, the model is yet to fetch an impressive sales result. The upcoming revived Jawa motorcycle could use the same 300 cc engine as the Mahindra Mojo. However, there is no official confirmation yet regarding the specification of the upcoming India-specific Jawa model.
In European market, Jawa has launched couple of exciting products in recent past and they are also expected to be launched here, but at later stage after evaluating the customer response. These models include the Jawa 350 Special modern café racer, Jawa 350 OHC street bike etc.
