Ford, the American automaker, has commenced the deliveries of its iconic Mustang supercar in the UK. Over 1,000 UK customers have now received their new right-hand-drive Ford Mustang, as total sales accelerate past 3,500. The sixth-generation Ford Mustang GT had its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo, while it is expected to go on sale (hopefully) from July 2016 in the country. Just so you know, it is for the first time in the Mustang's history that it is also being offered as right-hand-drive.
So far, 80 per cent of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible and 68 per cent have specified the 411bhp 5.0L V8 engine, which would be doing duties to the India-spec model. Mustang’s six-speed manual transmission is the slightly more popular choice (54 per cent) over the six-speed automatic, which comes with sporty SelectShift paddle control and would feature in the India-bound version of the supercar. Race Red is the most-popular exterior colour among UK buyers, specified on 20 per cent of Mustang orders. Magnetic Silver is second in line with 17 per cent and Shadow Black is third with 15 per cent. Triple Yellow (9 per cent) and Ruby Red (7 per cent) complete the top five.
The right-hand drive Mustang is available with features like dual-zone HVAC system, electronic line-lock, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, adaptive cruise control, drive mode selector, rain-sensing wipers, dual front airbags with additional curtain and knee-bags, SYNC 3 with 8-inch colour touchscreen and 9-speaker DAB radio, USB & Bluetooth connectivity as standard. The price in UK starts from £30,995 (Rs. 30 Lakhs) for the EcoBoost model and goes as high as £34,995 (Rs. 34 Lakhs) for the flagship V8 variant. The India-spec model of Ford Mustang would be retailed as CBU, with pricing expected around Rs. 55 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
