Rosberg halts Hamilton's winning streak at Brazilian GP

Snapshot: The nail-biting GrandPrix saw many thrilling moments between both the Silver Arrow drivers.

It seems like there was no stopping for the Briton, Lewis Hamilton, after his 5 continuous wins, until the Brazilian GP, where his teammate, Nico Rosberg put a brake on his winning streak. Nico Rosberg won the Brazilian GP, closing the gap between him and Hamilton by 17 points now. The nail-biting GrandPrix saw many thrilling moments between both the Silver Arrow drivers.

Nico Rosberg had an early advantage in the race, when he started from the pole ahead of Hamilton, and maintained the gap for quite a few moments, before Hamilton started closing in the gap. Hamilton, in the process of doing so, set a new fastest lap in the race, but his ambitions proved fatal and his car took a half spun due to worn out tyres, increasing the gap by 7.4sec. The race was not over for Hamilton, neither was his aspirations to win the race and seal the title. The Briton again revved hard to close the gap to a mere 2 seconds, entering his 50th lap, but thereafter, Rosberg withstands every attack, achieving the top podium, after 6 long races.

The podium was completed by home by Felipe Massa, driving his Williams' to join the Silver Arrows. Winning his first podium this year, Felipe Massa had to fight hard to achieve it, due to some unwanted errors. As if a five-second stop-and-go penalty when his speed limiter failed to work, was not enough, he also lost time when he entered the McLaren pit rather than the Williams' bay, because the mechanics waiting for Jenson Button were similarly attired to his own.

Jenson Button, driving his McLaren Mercedes, turned fifth on the grid into a very strong fourth in the race. He fought it hard from the Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull and both the Ferraris. While the German finished fifth for Red Bull, there was a fight between both the Ferrari drivers to achieve 6th position. Fernando Alonso finished sixth ahead of his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, who had to pull his car fast ahead of Force India's Nico Hulkenberg, finishing seventh, with just two-tenths of a second splitting the both of them.

The top ten of the drivers' title list was completed by Hulkenberg at eight, Kevin Magnussen of McLaren at ninth and  Valterri Bottas of William-Mercedes takes the final point in 10th place.

The race saw Nico Rosberg keeping himself in the fight for the Drivers' title. With only one race left at Abu Dhabi and a 17 point margin, the possibilities are limited to few options only. Rosberg winning the race and Hamilton finishing a distant eight or Rosberg coming second and Hamilton scoring no point, are the only way Rosberg can win the championship. Otherwise, the Briton will take the top honor.
