Royal Enfield has bought Harris Performance for an undisclosed sum, and now the whole of the team at the iconic British company will from now onwards be employees of Royal Enfield.

Harris Performance is a well known racing and parts manufacturer based in Britain. The Company was established in the year 1972 and since then they have established themselves as the major players of this industry. Closer home, Harris Performance was the team behind the incredibly capable chassis of the Royal Enfield Continental GT, a motorcycle that not only brought to India a proper Cafe Racer but also marked what's arguably Royal Enfield's proper globally suited new product.

Speaking about the acquisition, Mr. Siddhartha Lal, CEO Royal Enfield said “Royal Enfield is working on its new generation of products and platforms; to have the Harris Performance team dedicatedly working with us will clearly enhance our engineering and product design capabilities. Their proven expertise, deep insight and understanding of motorcycling and Royal Enfield will be invaluable for us in our journey towards achieving leadership in the global mid-sized motorcycling segment.”

This proves to be a master stroke by Royal Enfield, since only recently RE got Pierre Terblanche, the legendary motorcycle designer, in its fold and now getting the services of Harris Performance would mean RE's dream of becoming the global leader in mid size motorcycle market much truer than before.

Much like Terblanche (he's one of the best out there!), Harris Performance are among the best in the racing fraternity. Not only their successful relationships with the Royal Enfield has churned out absolute beauties, but Harris Performance also has the honour of being the only manufacturer from UK to have been officially commissioned by Yamaha and Suzuki to design, develop and manufacture race bikes for Grand Prix and World Superbike race series. This buyout also means that the Team Harris Performance will take responsibility of performance and development engineering for our new range of motorcycles. Mr. Siddharth Lal also added, "The Team Harris Performance will be part of Royal Enfield’s upcoming UK Tech Centre.”

Speaking of their association with Royal Enfield, Steve Harris, Founder, Harris Performance said: “Having worked with Eicher Motors Ltd’s motorcycle brand Royal Enfield for a number of years as a Technical Partner, we have experienced first-hand their capability, commitment, and ambition for their motorcycles and accessories. We are proud to be integrated into the Eicher family, the founders and staff of Harris Performance look forward contributing to Royal Enfield’s continued success”.
