Royal Enfield is one of the fastest growing two-wheeler brand in the Indian market. The Classic range is the company's biggest commercial success, though RE believes that there is enough room in the Classic series to accommodate a new motorcycle. It is almost confirmed that the company is working on another motorcycle that will join the Classic range. The company is currently testing a Scrambler motorcycle based on the Classic motorcycle on Indian roads.

If latest media report is to be believed, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler could be launched as early as March 2019. The deliveries are likely to commence from April 2019. Royal Enfield hasn't made an official announcement on the new variant. The exact name for the new motorcycle is still under the wraps, but it will be the first factory-built Scrambler in India.

The report further claims that the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Scrambler will be powered by a 499cc, single-cylinder BS-IV compliant engine that powers the Classic 500. This engine is capable of producing 27.5PS of power and 41.3Nm of torque. Though, Royal Enfield will have to update this engine before April 2020 to meet the upcoming BSVI emission norms.

The spy images suggest that the Classic Scrambler 500 will receive off-road tyres, short fenders and a tall and wide handlebar with a centre brace, rear parcel rack, an upswept exhaust and a single-seat for rider. Most of the equipment will be shared with the standard Classic 500. The fuel tank and side panels are likely to be sourced from the Classic model. The motorcycle will have upright stance and tall handlebar.

For suspension system, the bike will get conventional telescopic forks at the front. The front suspension will have fork gaiters to protect the suspension unit against elements that cause damage to oil seal. The motorcycle will come with dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. It is likely to cost around Rs 30,000 more than the Classic 500.
