Probably the most anticipated bike launch of the year 2018, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will be introduced in India mid-November this year. The company has also started bookings of the new motorcycles at a token amount of Rs 5,000. As per the information available, the motorcycles will go on sale in a very aggressive price range starting under Rs 3 lakh.
Talking about the mechanicals, both the bikes will be powered with the same 648cc, air-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected parallel-twin engine which churns out close to 47hp at 7,250rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5,250rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed transmission with a slip-assist clutch. The bikes will be offered with conventional front telescopic fork and gas-charged twin shock absorbers at the back. While in terms of braking, a single 320mm front disc and 240mm rear disc brake will take care of all the stopping power on the bikes which will also offer ABS as a standard feature.
Since there is no real competition as per the price segment, these bikes will stand alone in a class of their own since the closest rival is offered in the form of the Harley-Davidson Street 750 which is offered at a price tag of Rs 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Stay tuned for more information.
