Royal Enfield could launch an all-new entry-level Himalayan motorcycle in the Indian market. Being one of the most affordable entry-level offerings in the country, the company could bring a 250cc variant of the motorcycle. Recently, the 2020 Royal Enfield Himalayan was spotted as a test mule and it could be the new 250 model that we all the waiting for. The new Himalayan 250 could be launched by the end-2020 or early 2021.
The ongoing Royal Enfield Himalayan is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that develops top power of 24.5bhp at 6500rpm and peak torque of 32Nm at 4250rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed gearbox. It rides on a 21-inch front tyre and an 18-inch rear tyre, however, the test mule that was spied, was flaunting 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel.
Furthermore, the disc brakes on both the tyres also looked a bit smaller which strengthened the claim that the company might be working on a new model with a smaller engine.
Undoubtedly, the 250cc segment is one of the most popular motorcycle segments in the Indian market. Earlier, KTM too revealed the 250 Adventure in order to milk this segment. The KTM 250 Adventure could be launched soon in the country. Also, Hero MotorCorp, another big bikemaker, is working on a bigger iteration of XPulse with a larger capacity engine. So, bikemakers are desperately working on their products in the 250cc segment.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 250 could be priced at Rs 1.50 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while it gets a BS 6 compliant motor.
