Royal Enfield has silently updated the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 in the Indian market. The updates are very subtle and directed towards improving safety and visibility, report our friends at GaadiWaadi.
The duo has been equipped with clear lens headlamps in accordance with the new rules coming in effect from October 1, 2019. The report adds that both the bikes will get reflectors on the front forks very soon.
Both the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 have been performing consistently well in the middleweight segment with sales increasing every month.
The rival brand Honda is also contemplating the introduction of similar motorcycles with heavy local content. Royal Enfield could also launch a few new models based on the 650 architecture in the near future.
The company is already in a process of revamping its other models like Classic, Bullet and Thunderbird, as evident from the mules spied during test runs.
Royal Enfield is expected to launch the new range of motorcycles with an updated BS 6 engine before April 2020. As for the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, they were introduced last year with a price of Rs 2.50 Lakhs and Rs 2.66 Lakhs (Both prices are Ex. Showroom, New Delhi).
The 650 twins are powered by a 648cc parallel twin-cylinder fuel-injected petrol engine that delivers top power of 47bhp and peak torque of 52Nm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed transmission with slipper assist clutch as a standard feature.
